It can’t be denied, Crash Bandicoot is one of the most iconic game characters. The marsupial fox that was introduced by Naughty Dog in the first PlayStation era might have a few chapters. Even so, Crash as a PlayStation mascot for several years is very memorable.
This time, rumours circulated that Crash Bandicoot 4 will be released in the very near future. The reason is, the leaks regarding the presence of this game have reached the release date and outstanding image footage. Together with Activision, reportedly who will be the developer of this game is the studio Toys for Bob who had released Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
In leaked circulating, reportedly the latest sequel to the game Crash Bandicoot will take the headline “It’s About Time”. From the date of release, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be released on 2 October. With time this close, it could be Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is intended for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles at the end before the new generation console comes.
For those of you who have just started this franchise, you might remember a villain named N. Tropy, a person who can control time. These characters will take on more roles in this game. We see that the presence of the portal features in the latest Ratchet and Clank game, it will not be closed during the new adventure Crash Bandicoot will also have a unique feature to connect these elements.
The circulation of leaks about the presence of Crash Bandicoot 4 is not yet known the cause. Even so, the Twitter account from Toys for Bob has also just released signs if it confirms this leak. The plan, in the near future there will be an official announcement from the developer, here.

Previously, this game was leaked by the Taiwan rating agency. They openly leaked the title Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. After the leak came out, Toys for Bob officially confirmed that they would announce their latest game in the near future. Interestingly, a few screenshots from the 4chan forum actually leaked how Crash’s new form. Not to forget the release date which is October 2, 2020.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time mentioned will tell about Crash who discovered a mysterious mask with quantum powers. Through the mask, the red hedgehog will be able to visit various dimensions and different times to stop the evil plan of the game’s antagonistic character.
Crash Bandicoot 4 Gameplay
The gameplay is still the same, but it’s the presence of new playable characters, fresh mechanics, and even improved visual style makes it a sequel made for old fans and new players.
One of the most prominent features is Quantum Masks and how they open up a number of new possibilities, especially when combined with Crash and Coco who can run on walls, glide on railings, and use ropes to explore. For those who are familiar with this franchise, these new masks are very different from Aku Aku. Although there will be four versions of the mask on the game, only two can be discussed by Yan now, which can slow down time and manipulate gravity. Using a time mask, for example, allows you to get through fast traps and even Nitro Crate, while gravity masks can be used to jump farther, walk on the ceiling, and other imaginative things, both at regular levels and against bosses.
However, these masks cannot be used at all levels, because there is another playable character who cannot use it. That’s right, this time Neo Cortex is one of the characters that can be played, and it has unique levels made specifically for his strength. This crazy scientist can’t double jump like marsupials, so he created something that made him able to dash and fly for a while. He also has difficulty turning, especially with his large head. Instead, he can attack using his modified ray gun. We say “modified” because it can be used to turn objects into solid or springy platforms based on what you want. This choice makes Cortex levels focus more on puzzles than other stages, so it is interesting to see how speedrun and easter egg hunters will use these forces in different ways.
In fact, the choice seems to be an important focus at It’s About Time because Toys for Bob also introduces a more accessible game mode. Here you can have unlimited lives, so you don’t need to repeat if you die too much, making it more friendly to young players who might not be familiar with the challenges given by the platformer games of old. But for you veteran Crash fans, there is a Retro mode that allows you to play traditionally, where you only have a number of lives to complete a level.
On the other hand, modern mode is available for you who don’t want the number of lives to be a factor, especially on difficult stages. Not that you won’t get a challenge, there is a new type of challenge that will give you a gem if you complete a level without passing a certain number of deaths. So this franchise’s focus on precision platforming still exists, no matter how you play.
That’s why the levels will be more linear than in Warped. Here the level is designed more similar to the first game that is more structured. This will not only help the game tell the story more cohesively but also increase the challenge and introduce new mechanics in a more predictable way. As you can see in the trailer and the new screenshot that you can see below, it appears that the gameplay and bosses will be more diverse. I can’t wait to play Crash again when the game is released on October 2nd. How about you?
